London-Shot KARMA Turns the Boomerang of Life Into a Suspense Story

Dr. Kapil Rijal’s 11-minute suspense thriller ‘KARMA’ has been released on YouTube. Shot entirely in London, the English-language film explores the idea that life gives back what we give.

A new English-language short film titled ‘KARMA’, directed by London-based dentist and filmmaker Dr. Kapil Rijal, has been released on YouTube. Built around the idea that life is a boomerang and you get what you give, the 11-minute-and-22-second film unfolds as a suspense thriller.

The film stars London-based Nepali actor Tank Dhamala (Leo Tank) and Daly Allen in the lead roles. The supporting cast includes Sapan Kumar Rai, Jenna Masey, Jack Masey, Carley Beck, and Nishan Pun.

The entire film was shot in London, while its post-production work was completed in Nepal.

Dr. Rijal has written the story himself, while the screenplay was jointly developed by Dr. Kapil Rijal and Luke Hunter. The creative team also includes Graham WYN Jones for storyboarding, Mason Blu for music, Ian Van Temperley for stunt coordination, and Faustus Talack as cinematographer.

The film has been jointly edited by Deepesh KP and Alex Townley. Sapan Kumar Rai, Nino Oz, Daly Allen, and Suman Shrestha serve as executive producers.

Dr. Kapil Rijal, who has been living in London for around two and a half decades, is a dentist by profession and the son of renowned gynecologist Dr. Bhola Rijal.

Alongside his professional career in dentistry, Dr. Rijal has continued to pursue his interest in filmmaking during his spare time. Before ‘KARMA’, he had made two other short films and directed around a dozen music videos in both Nepal and London.

With its suspense-driven narrative and theme of consequences, ‘KARMA’ explores the idea that the actions people send into the world may eventually find their way back to them.
