The Rara Lake, which is also known as the Rara Daha, is the biggest lake in Nepal. Rara Lake located in Mugu district is one of the largest and deepest lake in Nepal. Often compared to a celestial nymph, the stunning lake is situated at an altitude of 2,972 meters.
The lake keeps changing its color which is another characteristic of the Rara Lake. This makes the viewers feel as if time has stopped. Quiet in the morning, Rara becomes more active toward the sunset.
The waves become so intense that they hit the coast hard as a monsoon fed rivulet does during monsoon. The lake is still a rural backwater due to lack of proper transportation facilities, geographical difficulty and state’s negligence.
