“Roll No. 1” Title Song Released, Highlights Pressure in Education System

The title song of the upcoming Nepali film “Roll No. 1” has been released, setting the tone for a socially driven story centered on education and child psychology. The film, produced under Seven Seas Cinema, is scheduled to release nationwide on May 15 (Republic Day).

The title track features vocals, lyrics, and composition by Prashant Shiwakoti. The song highlights the pressure created by ranking systems in schools and the emotional burden placed on students.

Through strong lyrical lines and visuals, the song questions the mindset of labeling students as “winners and losers” based only on rank. It portrays how academic pressure affects children in rural Nepal, especially those struggling between dreams and expectations.

The video beautifully captures rural Himalayan landscapes, traditional stone houses, and everyday school life. It shows a young student studying late under candlelight while suppressing his desire to play and enjoy childhood.

Directed by Jon Yonjan, the film stars Mukun Bhusal, Sushank Mainali, Renu Yogi, and Srijana Adhikari in lead roles. Child actors Nirbik Regmi, Rinchen Lama, Sanyam Kutuwal, and Sijal Shrestha also play key parts.

Written by Mahesh Dawadi, the film was shot in various scenic locations of Myagdi district. The technical team includes Shivaram Shrestha (cinematography), Rohit Shakya (BGM), and Madan Ghimire (editing).

Producers Binod Paudel and Janvi Paudel aim to release the film internationally alongside Nepal. Distribution is handled by Rich Entertainment and JM Cinema.

“Roll No. 1” promises to deliver a powerful message about every student’s story, making it more than just a film, it is a reflection of today’s education system.
