Upasana Singh Thakuri and Sonam Topden’s college romance takes an emotional turn in the official trailer for Jalaaki. Featuring Shilpa Maskey alongside the lead pair, the Nepali romantic drama explores love, memories and the pain of separation.
Unveiled on October 30, the trailer introduces a relationship shaped by changing circumstances and family ties. Its lighter moments of young love give way to longing, offering a glimpse of the struggles awaiting the central characters.
Ashok Thapa Magar directs the film, reuniting with Upasana after Khusma. The story draws on Magar and Gurung cultural traditions, connecting its romance with a sense of place and community.
According to the director, the title Jalaaki refers to a stone pillar associated with faith, remembrance and love in the Magar community. That cultural meaning forms part of the film’s emotional background.
The supporting cast includes Maotse Gurung, Buddhi Tamang, Astitwa Bhattachan, Sahara Hangma Limbu, Usha Khadgi and Loonibha Tuladhar, with Vijay Lama appearing in a special role.
Produced under M Media Production, Jalaaki is scheduled to release in cinemas across Nepal on November 20, 2026 (Mangsir 4, 2083).
