Nepali Movie Panch Pandav brings Mahabharat inspired characters into a contemporary Nepali social drama directed by Basanta Niraula.

Hari Bansha Acharya arrives as a man claiming to be from heaven in the first official trailer for Panch Pandav. Playing Yudhishthir, he sets out to find Bhim, Arjun, Nakul and Sahadev but the reason behind his search remains a mystery.

The trailer introduces a social drama that brings characters inspired by the Mahabharat into a contemporary Nepali setting. Directed by Basanta Niraula, the film features Acharya alongside Jitu Nepal as Bhim, Aryan Sigdel as Arjun, Mahesh Tripathi as Nakul and Sushil Sitaula as Sahadev.

While earlier posters introduced the characters, the first trailer gives viewers a glimpse of the world they inhabit. Scenes of protests, repression, violence and crime suggest a troubled society, with Yudhishthira’s search unfolding amid the unrest.

His journey also comes with personal distractions. Eva Giri, who plays Draupadi, appears as a woman who captures his attention. The trailer leaves viewers wondering how this attraction connects to his mission and where his search will lead.

The five central characters carry familiar mythological identities, yet they also appear as people belonging to present-day society. This overlap gives the trailer its main intrigue, while the relationships between the characters remain only partly revealed.

According to writer Sushil Poudel, Panch Pandav uses the characters and symbolism of the five Pandavs to tell a story about contemporary Nepali society. Poudel has written the film’s story, screenplay and dialogue.

The supporting cast includes Deepa Shree Niraula, Sarita Giri, Binod Neupane, Rama Thapaliya, Prashant Tamrakar, Eva Giri, Sita Neupane and Ritesh Poudel, also known as Ritesh Jung Khatri.

Produced under the Kali Rani Films banner, Panch Pandav is presented by Nabin Shrestha and produced by Kali Rani Shrestha. Shyam Tamang handles cinematography, Supreme Parajuli serves as editor, and Samrat Basnet directs the action sequences.

The film features music by Arjun Pokharel, sound design by Uttam Neupane and a background score by Sujil Karmacharya. Director Niraula says it has been prepared with Dolby Atmos sound.

Panch Pandav is scheduled to release on November 6, corresponding to Kartik 20, ahead of Tihar. RR Films will distribute the film across Nepal.
