Director Ashok Thapa Magar’s Jalaaki has unveiled its first visual teaser, offering a brief but emotionally charged look at Upasana Singh Thakuri’s character, her past and a romance connected to Sonam Topden.
Released as “Jalaaki – First Glimpse,” the video avoids revealing the complete storyline. Instead, it moves through fragments of Upasana’s childhood, college years, memories of her mother and her connection with Sonam, while presenting her present-day character as a teacher. Astitwa Bhattachan and Sahara Hangma Limbu also feature in the glimpse.
Snow-covered mountains, green hills, forests and rivers play a major role in the visual presentation, giving the teaser a distinctly scenic Nepali backdrop. The film was shot across Rukum, Rolpa, Myagdi, Baglung and Pokhara, with earlier reports describing Jalaaki as a triangular love story.
The title Jalaaki is linked to a stone structure regarded in the Magar community as a symbol of faith, remembrance and love. According to the filmmakers, the story incorporates elements of Magar and Gurung culture, traditions and emotions.
The film also stars Shilpa Maskey, Maotse Gurung, Buddhi Tamang, Astitwa Bhattachan, Sahara Hangma Limbu, Rajani Gurung, Raju Regmi Magar, Usha Khadgi and Loonibha Tuladhar, with Captain Vijay Lama appearing in a special role. Sahara makes her Nepali film debut with Jalaaki.
Produced under M Media Production, Jalaaki is scheduled to release in Nepal on November 20, 2026 ( Mangsir 4, 2083).
