‘Pension Patta’ Teaser Finally Reveals the Mystery Behind its Title

The teaser of Dayahang Rai-starrer Pension Patta introduces a mysterious name hidden in a deceased father’s pension record, triggering a search into the family’s past.

The official teaser of Maotse Gurung’s upcoming Nepali film Pension Patta has been released, offering the clearest look yet at the family mystery at the centre of the Dayahang Rai-starrer.

The teaser introduces a seemingly ordinary pension document that carries an unexpected secret. Following the death of a father, the family discovers that his pension record reportedly contains the name of his first wife instead of the woman they know as their mother.

But there is one major problem, the family does not know who the mysterious first wife is. That revelation appears to set the story in motion, turning the pension document into the starting point for a search involving family history, inheritance, identity, money and relationships.

Set against a rural Gurung backdrop, the teaser also connects the story with Lahure culture, where military service and pension records can hold financial, legal and deeply personal significance for families.

Written and directed by Maotse Gurung, Pension Patta stars Dayahang Rai alongside Gaumaya Gurung, Buddhi Tamang and Wilson Bikram Rai. Pashupati Rai, Bishwas Gurung, Pushkar Gurung, Lunibha Tuladhar, Maya Gurung and Suraj Tamu are also part of the cast. The late actor Sunil Thapa is credited in the film as well.

The film was shot largely in Tangting, Beautiful village of Kaski, a setting that has already featured prominently in its promotional material.

Earlier, Gurung had indicated that Pension Patta was not simply a conventional story about a retired Gurkha soldier. He described the narrative as involving a greedy character whose journey gradually moves towards generosity and humanity.

The teaser now provides more context to that idea, suggesting that the hidden truth inside the pension record could force the characters to confront both personal interests and a complicated family past. Pension Patta is scheduled to release across Nepal on September 11, 2026.
