The teaser of upcoming Nepali film ‘Akshara’ has been released, offering an emotional glimpse into a story of domestic violence, family pressure and a woman’s struggle to protect her dignity after marriage.

Directed by Vinay Raj Paudel, the 2-minute-2-second teaser follows a young woman, played by Nancy Khadka, who marries into a wealthy family but gradually finds herself trapped in a painful and abusive relationship.

Sushil Sitaula appears as her husband, portrayed as a man struggling with alcohol addiction and using his family’s social and financial status to dominate his wife. Sushil Pokharel plays Nancy’s father.

One of the teaser’s strongest moments comes when the daughter returns to her parental home and questions why women are always expected to leave behind their home, surname and identity after marriage.

The dialogue gives ‘Akshara’ a clear social theme, highlighting not only marital abuse but also the expectations placed on daughters and married women in society.

Also starring Sushil Pokharel and Sushil Sitaula alongside Nancy Khadka, ‘Akshara’ is scheduled to release nationwide on September 11, 2026.
