‘Road to Everest’ Official Trailer Captures a Real Journey to the Top of the World
The official trailer of Road to Everest offers a striking glimpse into a real journey from sea level to the summit of Mount Everest, bringing together adventure, human determination and the changing face of the Himalayas.
Directed by Nirmal Shrestha, the documentary centres on Raj Gurung, a man in his fifties who challenges age and his own limitations while pursuing his dream of climbing the world’s highest mountain.
The 50-minute film also explores the dangers of high-altitude mountaineering, the contribution of the Sherpa community and the impact of climate change on the Himalayan environment.
Renowned mountaineers Phurba Tenzing Sherpa and Nima Gyalzen Sherpa feature in the documentary. Phurba has summited Everest 18 times, while Nima has climbed Everest 10 times and completed all 14 of the world’s 8,000-metre peaks.
Written by journalist Santosh Acharya and director Nirmal Shrestha and narrated by Bhusan Dahal, Road to Everest has been produced in Nepali and English following more than two years of research, filming and production.
According to the filmmakers, the documentary was created using authentic footage without artificial or computer-generated visuals.
Road to Everest will premiere in Kathmandu on August 22, 2026, before its international premiere in Hong Kong on September 13, 2026.
