‘Road to Everest’ Official Teaser Reveals a Real Journey to the World’s Highest Peak

Watch the official teaser for Road to Everest, director Nirmal Shrestha’s documentary about a real Everest expedition, Sherpa contributions, personal determination and the changing Himalayas.

The official teaser for Road to Everest has been released, offering the first video glimpse of a documentary that follows an extraordinary real-life journey from sea level to the summit of Mount Everest.

Directed by Nirmal Shrestha, the 50-minute film follows a man in his fifties as he challenges age, time and his physical limits to pursue his dream of climbing the world’s highest mountain.

The teaser highlights the spectacular Himalayan landscape while introducing the danger, determination and uncertainty surrounding an Everest expedition.

Alongside its central adventure story, Road to Everest explores the contribution of the Sherpa community, the risks of high-altitude mountaineering and the growing impact of climate change on the Himalayan environment.

The documentary features renowned mountaineers Phurba Tenzing Sherpa, who has summited Everest 18 times, and Nima Gyalzen Sherpa, who has reached Everest 10 times and completed all 14 of the world’s 8,000-metre peaks.

Binod Gurung, Suraj Gurung and director Nirmal Shrestha also appear in the documentary.

According to the production team, the film was created entirely by Nepali filmmakers and technical professionals and documents the journey using authentic footage without artificial or computer-generated visuals.

Written by journalist Santosh Acharya and Nirmal Shrestha, with narration by broadcaster Bhusan Dahal, the documentary has been produced by the We Will Rise Foundation.

Road to Everest will premiere in Kathmandu on August 22, 2026, followed by an international premiere in Hong Kong on September 13, 2026.
