Tunnel 26 Trailer Reveals Deadly Hydropower Tunnel Disaster
The official trailer for ‘Tunnel 26: The Curse Beneath the Mountain’ has been released, taking viewers deep inside a Bhutanese hydropower tunnel where a deadly incident triggers an escalating fight for survival.
Starring Sangay Tsheltrim, Anoop Bikram Shahi and Anna Sharma, the Nepal-Bhutan-India collaboration is scheduled to open in cinemas across Nepal and Bhutan on October 9, 2026.
The trailer centres on an accident inside the tunnel and the dangerous situation that follows. Dark underground spaces, emergency sequences and large-scale visual effects shape the film’s disaster-driven atmosphere as its characters struggle with the unfolding crisis.
According to the production team, ‘Tunnel 26’ is inspired by real events in Bhutan. The filmmakers also shot important sequences inside the actual tunnel connected to the inspiration for the story rather than relying entirely on constructed sets.
The production was filmed over approximately 100 days.
‘Tunnel 26’ is written, directed and edited by DD Kinley. Alongside Sangay Tsheltrim, Anoop Bikram Shahi and Anna Sharma, the cast includes Nidup Dorji, Deki Lhamo, Phuntshok Dhonden and Roshini Dada.
Nepali actor Pradeep Khadka serves as creative producer and is not part of the on-screen cast. Dorji Wangchuk is the executive producer.
The film is presented by Sangay Tsheltrim Films and Peak XV, with production collaboration involving Dorjigs Production, Reltic Pictures, DoMCIIP and Rolling Image Pictures.
Dirgha Gurung and Sangay T. Tenzing handled cinematography, Raju Tamang directed the action, and Nipan Studio created the visual effects. The music and sound work was completed in Thailand, with Terdsak Janpan composing the background score and Karan Thamawong handling sound design and re-recording mixing.
The official trailer was launched at Labim Mall in Lalitpur in the presence of film teams from Nepal and Bhutan, including a 16-member delegation from Bhutan.
