Apple Original Films has released the official trailer for “Tenzing,” offering the first major look at the upcoming Everest drama starring Genden Phuntsok as legendary mountaineer Tenzing Norgay and Tom Hiddleston as Sir Edmund Hillary.
Directed by Jennifer Peedom, the film revisits the historic 1953 Everest expedition that saw Tenzing and Hillary reach the summit on May 29, 1953. However, the trailer makes it clear that this story will be told primarily through Tenzing’s experience.
Alongside dramatic climbing sequences and sweeping Himalayan landscapes, the trailer highlights Tenzing’s personal journey, his family and his spiritual connection with Everest, known as Chomolungma.
The cast also includes Willem Dafoe as expedition leader John Hunt, Caitríona Balfe as Jill Henderson and Thinley Lhamo as Tenzing’s wife Dawa.
“Tenzing” also carries a strong Nepal connection, with significant portions of the production filmed in the country, including scenes around Patan and other Himalayan locations.
The film will open in select cinemas on October 9, 2026, followed by its worldwide premiere on Apple TV on October 16.
