Watch the official first-look video of ‘Acharya’, the much-awaited Nepali action film directed by and starring Nikhil Upreti. The film marks Nikhil’s return to his popular action-star avatar and is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on Asoj 9, 2083 / September 25, 2026.

Acharya First Look: Nikhil Upreti Returns as Action Hero and Director

The official first-look video of ‘Acharya’, one of the most anticipated upcoming Nepali action films, has been released. The brief promotional glimpse marks the return of popular action star Nikhil Upreti, who is leading the project both in front of and behind the camera.

Released through OSR Digital, the 47-second video formally introduces Acharya as “A Film by Nikhil Upreti.” It also confirms that the movie will arrive in cinemas on Asoj 9, 2083, corresponding to September 25, 2026.

Rather than revealing major details about the storyline, the first-look video works as an announcement of the film’s scale, identity and theatrical arrival. Its main attraction is Nikhil Upreti’s return to the action genre—a screen space that has played a major role in establishing his popularity among Nepali movie audiences.

The words “A Film by Nikhil Upreti” also underline his creative control over the project. Nikhil has directed the film and plays its central character, making Acharya his second directorial venture after the 2015 action film Bhairav.

Nikhil Upreti’s Action Comeback Raises Expectations

The release of the first look is likely to generate particular interest among viewers who have followed Nikhil’s career as one of Nepali cinema’s best-known action heroes.

During the film’s production, Nikhil described Acharya as his dream project and said that the team was working to create a world-class action film. The production travelled across Nepal and India, with filming conducted in locations including Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Pokhara, Sarlahi, Dooars, Bagdogra, Siliguri and Thakurgunj.

Principal photography was completed after an 83-day filming schedule, although the production team said at the time that two songs remained to be filmed separately.

What the First Look Confirms

The newly released video confirms three major details: the film’s official title presentation, Nikhil Upreti’s position as filmmaker and its theatrical release date.

It does not reveal enough information to establish the complete storyline or the roles played by other cast members. Earlier production reports named Purnika Sinjapati, Pramod Agrahari, Kameshwor Chaurasiya and Bishal Pahari among the actors associated with the film.

There was also talk during production about possible appearances by actors from Bollywood or South Indian cinema. However, no particular Indian actor has been officially confirmed, and such reports should be treated as speculation until the filmmakers make a formal announcement.

With the first look now officially released, attention will turn towards the film’s teaser, trailer, music and character reveals. For the moment, Acharya has begun its promotional journey by placing Nikhil Upreti’s return to large-scale action cinema at the centre of the conversation.

‘Acharya’ will be released in cinemas on Asoj 9, 2083 (September 25, 2026).
