The emotional teaser of upcoming Nepali film ‘Gaunthali’ has officially been released, offering audiences a powerful glimpse into a heartbreaking story about marriage, family struggles, and emotional pain faced by women in society. Directed by Dr. Kapil Rizal, the film is scheduled to hit theaters on Shrawan 1.
The teaser focuses on the emotional journey of a young woman whose dreams of education and a happy life are shattered after an early marriage. What initially appears to be a simple and honest husband slowly turns into a painful reality, showing how one wrong decision can completely destroy someone’s life.
Through emotional scenes and realistic storytelling, the teaser highlights the suffering faced by a daughter-in-law inside her marital home. It portrays the contrast between a mother’s warm love for her daughter and the harsh treatment often experienced from in-laws after marriage. The film also explores emotional abuse, toxic relationships, and the silent struggles many women endure inside families.
Arun Chhetri plays the role of the husband, while Simran Khadka appears as the young wife whose life changes after marriage. Their emotional performances have already drawn attention from viewers following the teaser release.
The film also features veteran actors including Madan Krishna Shrestha, Prakash Ghimire, Lunibha Tuladhar, and Rabindra Jha, alongside a strong supporting cast.
The story of ‘Gauthali’ was written by Dr.Bhola Rizal, while the screenplay and dialogues were developed collaboratively by director Dr.Kapil Rizal, Nishchal Kunwar, Niraj Nepal, and Giriraj Ghimire.
According to the production team, the title “Gauthali” symbolically represents home, family, emotional closeness, and human connection.
Interestingly, filmmaker Dr.Bhola Rizal had previously made a film with the same title nearly two decades ago, which is regarded as Nepal’s first musical feature film. Now, his son Dr.Kapil Rizal is reviving the iconic title with a fresh story and a modern emotional narrative for today’s generation.
